Alice’s Dance by Sara Mautone

Sara Mautone captures Alice Gilbert in a David Lynch-inspired story.

Behind the shimmering courtains of historical Parisian nighclub Le Carrousel, Alice plays the part of a cabaret diva performing in Mautone‘s dreamlike universe. Paying tribute to eras gone by, the story features an intoxicating mix of Jazz-Age styles, sensual mystery à la Blue Velvet and 90’s  disco vibes. The clothing reflects the ambitious desires of a superstar lost in the shadows of a showgirl, mixing dramatic couture pieces by Yiquing Yin and Julien Fournié with cheeky Miu Miu outfits, Haider Ackermann‘s androgynous elegance and Undercover cartoonish coolness. Echoing Twin Peaks broken narrative structure, Sara Mautone creates moodie atmospheres delivered with sophisticated artistry and energetic momentum. While an allegory of uncanny is hidden in plain sight, visual poetry is portrayed in moving scenes.
