Ann Demeulemeester “Two Suns” S/S 2016

let’s go said he
not too far said she
what’s too far said he
where you are said she – E.E. Cummings

Designed with elegance and sensitivity, Ann Demeulemeester Men’s collection for Spring / Summer 2016 takes on a new energy infused by Sebastien Meunier’s contemporary touch. In respectful homage to the work of contemporary artist Laurent Grasso and the poetry of the late American author E.E. Cummings, the collection is titled Two Suns, and unveils more of Meunier’s rich cultural background. Enchanted by the dualities of Grasso’s neoclassical work, Meunier weaved flashes of bright color through darkness and light, reproducing the mysterious feeling evoked by the French artist’s paintings. The classic Ann Demeulemeester’s ethereal romance was filled with a sensual element, expressed by the shadow play of cloth and skin created through sheer inserts, checks, stripes, and swirling jacquards. Precious and humble, rock and classic, minimal and baroque were balanced with subtle harmony. Fluid shapes and floating layers were worked into clean silhouettes that praise Meunier’s passionate yet controlled style sense.
