Cherevichkiotvichki – Autumn – Winter 2015 / 2016

As beautiful as the chance encounter of a sewing machine and an umbrella on an operating table.

Cherevichkiotvichki unveiled the second chapter of its 2015 theme “Surrealism : Family“. The London-based artisanal brand explored further the assets of humor, comfort and research that shaped its Winter season, presenting a playful collection with an artsy twist. Designer and maker Victoria Andrejeva was inspired by an ideal of a woman free from any sociological concerns, which follows a certain forgotten lifestyle seeking for the excitement of the unexpected. This motif was particularly evident in the capsule collection of garments, which Andrejeva launched for the very first time. By manipulating darts and the composition of fabrics, the designer simplified the fit to achieve essential clothing perfect for the daily life. Luxurious fabrics such as silk, Loro Piana cashmere jersey, bleached canvas and washed corduroy give to the minimal designs extremely special textures. As for the leather, Cherevichkiotvichki‘s daring experimentation with coloring and finishing techniques this time focused on spray paint. Victoria carefully sprayed and polished her regular set of horse cordovan, naturally wrinkled calf and suede leathers to achieve the look of passed time without jeopardizing the quality of the materials. Surrealistic elements such as elastics and industrial ropes were used as laces to tie up the shoes.

“The Cherevichki woman takes from the statue of a man like Jackson Pollock and the playfulness of a woman as Niki de Saint Phalle. She moves unrestricted and thinks unconstrained.”
