A flower is not a flower.
The famous music of the Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto is the perfect soundrack for Alysée Yin Chen Spring / Summer 2017 collection. The inspiration for Chen‘s third collection comes from the organic realm, from the plants and trees that surround her studio in the South of France, which grow into cracked feminine shapes oddily flattering to the body. Contemporary style suggestions drawn from underground youth culture are softly sculpted into complex pieces that are groungy and romantic at once. The intricate patterns highlight the fine textures of the primal materials, sourced in Italy and Japan and manufactured in France in Alysée Yin Chen‘s atelier following artisanal working techniques. The sharp cuts break the fabric’s flow creating an interesting clash of movement and restraint, such as rushes in the breeze. A certain ideal of power clothing has been deconstructed and reassembled to create casually sophisticated hybrids.
