Mattison by Cecile Bortoletti

An imaginary character with the elegance of a nobleman and the decadent charm of a poet takes over the abandoned studio of an artist.

Cecile Bortoletti depicts the subtle romanticism of this meditative hero trough a pale blue story. The French photographer reinterprets the masculine ethos of the LA-based brand Mattison adding a soft, introspective, touch to the playful, yet refined, fashion.

With a background in the bespoke business, Derek Mattison, designer behind the brand, boasts an impressive sartorial know-how. Moving forward from expertly crafted, razor sharp suits and classic tailoring, since 2012 Mattison explores proportion and construction in new, experimental, ways. For the Fall / Winter 2016 -2017 season,  Derek put together his different experiences in fashion, pairing his technical skills and love for classical cloths with a modern sensibility. Less structured and more up-to-date, the garments have clean silhouettes that can be creatively layered together, highliting the careful attention to detail in the finishing. Mattison‘s man belongs at once to the future and to the past. This transitional character is reflected in the material choice, which consists in a mix of luxury fabric mills like Loro Piana and conceptual fabrications such as cotton, silk and resin blends that give a current feel to the clothes.
Vibrant colors express a certain ideal of lightness, which aims to an ideal of living life as an extraordinary divertissement.

Mattison Fall / Winter 2016 collection is on view at 4 Rue Saint Anastase, 75003 Paris, from January 22nd to 28th.
