Clara Segui shoots Georgia and Napoleon in a Bjork-inspired story focused on artisanal fashion.
The images pay homage to the 90’s and the cunterculture music movements of that time featuring out-of-the-box outfits by Netherland designer Barbara Munsel who gives to traditional batik textiles and classic Japanese lace kebaya an avant-garde look. Munsel meditated on Dutch colonial past and their worldwide famous trading business in East India, which fostered a melting pot of races and cultural exchanges that highly influenced her Country throughout the history. This punk spirit of mix and match and conscious upcycling is infused in each piece of the capsule collection, which was entirely handmade including lace trimmings and fragments of the wardrobe that the designer inherited from her late mother. Hard and soft meet, like in the enchnating tunes of the Icelandic singer. Golden like the sun rising upon the Masai Mara, the dress by ethical African brand Hamaji the Nomad echoes Munsel‘s tribute to craftsmanship and sophisticated sustainability. The crystal talismans by Jacki Holland cast protective spells on the bewitching couple and add a New Age twist with experimental allure.
