Yang Li – Autumn / Winter 2015 -2016

From destruction a new spirit of creation arises.

Since his debut, Yang Li‘s quest for tailoring perfection has achieved outstanding results yet somehow lacking of soul. For the Winter season the Chinese designer brought his creative language to a different level, embracing the sphere of emotions. By focusing on disrupting feelings, Li explored the tension between rough and polished textures. This challenging research allowed him to imbue his stark silhouettes and essential designs with a blast of dramatic romanticism. Crisp aluminum fabrics were sculpted into trench dresses and skirts that gracefully crinkled around the body while holding their shape through thick silk sashes tightly fastened at the waist. The sharp cuts turned the military inspired outerwear into sophisticated couture armors. Finally, monumental satin gowns closed the runway featuring frayed hems that added a raw and unfinished appeal to the sartorial look.

Yang Li broke from the cold rigor to discover the poetic harmony of the opposites.
